Become a driver of a passenger vehicle for commercial use in VIC

To qualify for driver accreditation in Victoria
- You will need to be at least 21 years of age
- Have held an open drivers’ licence for 6 months or more
To become a driver of a passenger vehicle for commercial use in VIC you will need to apply online
1. Apply for Driver Accreditation online via the link
Driver accreditation is a state-wide scheme that informs Booking Service Providers and passengers that a driver meets safety standards to operate in the industry.
2. Pass a Vehicle Safety Inspection
You must ensure your vehicle passes a vehicle inspection by a VicRoads licensed vehicle tester or by Redbook Pty Ltd, which is the vehicle tester approved by Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV), every twelve months.
3. Register a vehicle to carry commercial passengers (CPV), select ‘booked service’. Apply for CPV for your vehicle online here
As part of this process you will be asked to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and vehicle registration number.
Please ensure you complete the driver accreditation 1st then apply for the CPV. After paying the application fee and submitting your online application, you’ll receive confirmation from Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria who will process your request.
Signage – Upon approval of your profile by Dream Rides, you will be posted a Dream Rides sign. This needs to be displayed on or near the rear of the driver’s side of your vehicle and clearly visible from the outside of the vehicle when completing a booking.
